What Is Proof Coins ?

Initially the of the proof coin began with what we refer to as a prototype. Coins where created and studied as part of minting process so the adjustment could be made to the dies before mass production began. They were also Struck to create archival specimen and ultimately for the final approval of the minting master before regular production begain. 

These first struck coin on brand new dies represanted the best possible equalities for that particular die run.

These first prototype coins stood out in quality comparison to the regular production example. therefore frequently were kept by employees or given to politicians or wealthy coin collector's who are willing to pay special access to them.
